Travel Book Review: The Perfect Girlfriend by Karen Hamilton

My son and I recently flew with Volaris to the beach town of Huatulco, Mexico for spring break. One of my essentials for a beach vacation is a great book that is a fun read. I was recently sent an advanced copy of The Perfect Girlfriend by Karen Hamilton and knew it would be a perfect read for my vacation.
I started reading on the plane and couldn’t put the book down. I love a novel that grabs you from the very first page and pulls you into their world completely. In the case of The Perfect Girlfriend, I found myself immersed in Juliette’s off-kilter world immediately. She is a temptress, cleptomaniac, and conniver who is in the midst of becoming a flight attendant to keep tabs on an ex-boyfriend who happens to be a pilot.
Juliette lives in London, but the novel takes us with her as she bops around the world, sharing behind the scenes life of the flight crew. In between sightseeing in iconic locations around the world and meeting her flight crew for nightly happy hours, we quickly learn about her twisted plans to win back her ex-boyfriend Nate. Oh, and it turns Juliette works for the same airline as her unsuspecting ex.
There are twists and turns as Juliette tries to work her way back into Nate’s life. Some may say she is the ultimate portrayal of a crazy ex-girlfriend.
The Perfect Girlfriend was a book I couldn’t put down once I began. Reading a book poolside or under a palapa in a tropical location is my idea of pure bliss! Each morning, I gathered my sunscreen, sunglasses and headed to the pool or the beach to enjoy some true relaxation and jump back into the book to find out what Juliette was up to next!
About halfway through this thriller, I thought I had figured out the upcoming plot twists. I was wrong! This book surprised me and kept me guessing the whole time. I never saw the ending coming!
