Grand Park Royal Cancun Hotel Review

I am so excited to share this review of the Grand Park Royal Cancun Caribe Resort in Mexico. My son and I were lucky enough to stay at the stunning all-inclusive resort located on the beach with spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea.

The upscale, family-friendly, resort is a perfect option if you are looking for comfortable luxury in Cancun.

Grand Park Royal Cancun Hotel Review

Grand Park Royal Cancun Grounds

Grand Park Royal is one of the best upper-middle-range all-inclusive resorts in Cancun. It is located at the midpoint of the Hotel Zone (Zona Hotelera). It is a great resort for families as well as couples looking for a beautiful beach location, great food options, and gorgeous grounds.

Cancun, Mexico is considered one of the world’s premier beach resort destinations. Because of its status as a sought-after Mexico beach destination, there are plenty of options when it comes to accommodations, ranging from affordable to ultra-luxurious. In my opinion, the Grand Park Royal is one of the best resorts in Cancun and one I would love to visit again.

There are two Royal Cancun hotels located in the Zona Hotelera in Cancun. Both the Park Royal Beach Hotel and the Grand Park Royal are beachfront hotels. This article is a review of Grand Park Royal Cancun.

Here’s what to expect from this incredible resort.

Grand Park Royal Cancun First Impressions

hammocks at Grand Park Royal Cancun Grounds

Our Cancun vacation started with an easy and fast check-in. During the check-in, they shared an overview of the facilities, services, and restaurants on the property.

One of the best perks of Grand Park Royal Cancun is the option for a personal Butler. If you book a deluxe villa at Grand Park Royal Cancún, lodging includes personalized butler service. The butler truly makes the Grand Park Royal Cancun a luxury experience. Our butler met us at check-in and escorted us to our room and then took us on a tour of the property to familiarize us with all the facilities, restaurants, pools and more. The butler option, for me, makes this one of the best family resorts in Cancun!

The resort is beautiful. With one adult outdoor pool and a second mega-pool surrounded by palapas, hammocks, palm trees, and stunning views of the Caribbean Sea, it immediately put me into vacation mode. After our tour, all I wanted to do was put my bathing suit on and find a lounge chair.

Grand Park Royal is one of the best resorts in Cancun for families and couples. During our stay, I saw an even mix of couples and families.

The Grounds

Grand Park Royal Grounds

The Grand Park Royal sits on one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in Cancun.  The hotel looks out to the gorgeous Mexican Caribbean and from any vantage point you’ll see a beautiful pool, relaxing hammocks, gorgeous gardens, or amazing facilities that will make your trip an unforgettable experience.

The Rooms & Villas at Grand Park Royal Cancun

Grand Park Royal Cancun Villa

There are 311 guest rooms as well as 33 private villas at the Grand Park Royal Cancun. All rooms have a balcony or terrace; some have a small private pool. Rooms on the first floor of the main building have a patio that leads to a private pool area for this floor of rooms.

Grand Park Royal rooms with pool

The rooms at the resort are designed to have the best luxury experience. All rooms are built to get the sea breeze, which means you can also hear the gentle lapping of the ocean, which is one of my favorite things about a beach vacation.

Rooms here are situated in two buildings: a seven-story main building that is curved to take advantage of its beautiful beachfront location and view of the pools as well as a low-rise annex of villas closer to the beach.

Our Deluxe Villa at Grand Park Royal Cancún had a stellar view of the beautiful Caribbean Sea. We were on the first floor, so we had a sliding glass door that led to a patio with two lounge chairs and a small pool.

The fact that my son and I woke up to this gorgeous view every day of our vacation was not lost on me.

The Bathroom

Grand Park Royal bathroom

The bathroom is very spacious it has two big vanity mirrors, a hairdryer, and a rainfall shower, which was quite nice and relaxing after a day at the beach or pool.

Kaab brand organic amenities

Our bathroom was stocked with Kaab brand organic products. Our room also came with a canvas beach bag with beach towels.

The Personal Butler

If you would like to have a personal butler, you can request this at the time of booking. If you book a Deluxe Villa, the personal butler is included in the rate.

Our personal butler did everything from taking us on a tour of the property after check in, to reserving beach cabanas, to delivering food to our room and arranging for our check out. It truly takes the hotel experience to a whole new level.

Our butler also made our restaurant reservations, and drove us to anywhere we wanted on the property. My son’s favorite thing was to request room service, which our butler would deliver and tended to be snacks like hotdogs and freshly made pizzas.

When staying in the Villa we were brought nightly treats such as chocolate-covered strawberries.

Amenities in Rooms

Welcome treats at Park Royal Cancun

Upon arrival, we had a lovely fruit salad, a plate of fruit, freshly made chips, and a bottle of tequila. The treats keep coming, which is another reason this is one of the best all inclusive resorts in Cancun for families and couples. I am gluten-free and they made a point of setting little ‘gluten-free’ cards next to items, so it was clear they were safe for me to eat. Such a nice touch, that I truly appreciated.

Overview of a few of the room amenities

  • Room service 24/7
  • Minibar with soft drinks and snacks refilled every day (A fun perk, especially for kids (and my teenager)).
  • Kaab Bathing amenities include body lotion, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and soap bars
  • Shower cap and sewing kit
  • Air conditioning
  • Internet and Wifi
  • 32′ TV
  • Patio or balcony

While it’s one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Cancun for families, the Grand Park Royal can be quite romantic, especially if you stay in a Villa.

The Pools

Pool at Grand Park Royal Cancun

Grand Park Royal has two pools. Both have a stunning ocean view from all angles. They are surrounded by lounge chairs and palapas. The entire ambiance of the pool area is quite tropical.

Activities in the main pool include scuba diving demonstrations, volleyball, and party games.

The adult pool has a swim-up bar for enjoying great cocktails. My favorites in Mexico are a Paloma, Pina Colada or a Margarita.

The Beach

Beach at Grand Park Royal Cancun

Grand Park Royal is located on one of Cancun’s best beaches.  The white sand beaches and the azure blue water are something you need to experience for yourself to believe. The Caribbean Sea can be completely calm, which is when it is most spectacular. On calm days, the water is crystal clear. You can swim out quite a ways and still see clear to the bottom.

top-rated beaches in Mexico

One of the things Cancun is well known for is having one of the top-rated beaches in Mexico.  The white-sand beach is not hot to walk on it even in the hottest months of the year.

Cabanas at Grand Park Royal

Grand Park Royal offers private cabanas on the beach, which you can reserve. They are quite nice for families with small kids, so the kiddos or adults can have a break from the sun. They are also quite romantic and a perfect place to relax with a cocktail in late afternoon, when most families have headed back to their rooms.

The Restaurants & Food

La Concha, El Oriental, and El Mirador all have casual elegant dress codes and only seat guests over the age of 12.

They clearly marked most high allergy items with a card at all the buffets including gluten-free items. Restaurant menus were also clearly marked with gluten-free options. They even had gluten-free soy sauce at El Oriental restaurant.

For those who enjoy wine with their lunch or dinner, you’ll be excited to know there is quite a nice wine list at the restaurants.

The executive Chef is Luis Rosales and manages the quality and menus of all the restaurants including:

During our dinner, there was a great saxophone player.

Grand Park Royal Cancun is one of the hotels that protects endangered turtle eggs by keeping them in a safe hatching environment. The hotel has staff who protect the turtles until hatching time and then help them find their way back to the ocean at the best time of day for survival.

The turtle eggs are fenced in and located on the beach at the hotel.

The Service

Grand Park Royal staff

This upscale, family-friendly resort has amazing service. Our butler, waiters, activity staff and front desk people were extremely friendly and kind. We felt welcomed from the moment we put arrived at the hotel. It is clear all the staff works very hard and everybody has that special Mexican hospitality.

If you have the butler service, they stop by at the end of their shift daily to see if you have any special requests for the next day or if there is anything that you need. At the end of our stay, our butler checked with us to confirm what time we wanted our luggage picked up.

The only thing that we wished was to stay longer at this amazing resort.

Cancun  – Tips and Recommendations

While an all-inclusive resort means you don’t have to leave the beach property, there are plenty of things to see and do in Cancun, Mexico.

With pristine beaches and vibrant nightlife, travelers have plenty to do from dawn until dusk in this incredible resort town.

  • Isla Cancun (also known as the Hotel Zone) is a 15-mile strip shaped like a 7. The Hotel Zone is the primary tourist area and filled with resorts, beaches, restaurants, shops and lots of nightlife. Kulkukan Boulevard,  runs from one side of the Hotel Zone to the other.
  • Hotels.com – is the best website for booking family hotels in Cancun. I love the fact you get a free night for every 10 booked.
  • Best Hotels in Cancun (Reviews): TripAdvisor
  • The best kid-friendly tour in Cancun is the Cenote Day Tour which takes you to 4 amazing cenotes where you will swim, snorkel, and zipline. (Kids need to be 6 years or older.) Swimming in a cenote (a sinkhole filled with cool freshwater) is the highlight of any trip to the Yucatan. Tour includes hotel pickup, lunch, snorkel gear, and life vests.
  • Car Rental When I visited Cancun with my son, we rented a car and drove ourselves to several Mayan ruins and cenotes. We used rentalcars.com to reserve our car in advance.
  • Travel Insurance: I love World Nomads and highly recommend having travel insurance in today’s world.

  1. Hi, when did you write this review? Thinking about booking but don’t know if things have changed since covid

    1. Hi Sarah,

I visited in 2020. As far as I know, most of the hotels in Cancun are running at a ‘back to normal’ experience.

I truly loved this hotel. Location was great and the grounds were beautiful.

I’ve been to Cancun quite a bit and have more articles focused on the area (cenotes, mayan ruins, other hotels, things to do). https://52perfectdays.com/category/cancun/

Let me know if I can be of any further help or answer any other questions.
