5 Tourist Destinations in Las Vegas You Can Visit for Free
We’re not here to judge. Traveling can really be costly, that’s why it’s understandable if you’re looking for noteworthy places to visit in Las Vegas where you won’t have to pay for any entrance fees to experience them. Here are 5 free local spots you can include in your itinerary to keep the budget down.
1. Fountains of Bellagio

The first on our list of free places to visit in Las Vegas is the Fountains of Bellagio, a world-famous water feature located at the Bellagio Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It is known for its stunning and choreographed water fountain displays set to music and lights, ranging from classical and Broadway tunes to contemporary pop songs. Each show is meticulously designed to synchronize the water’s movements, light, and music to create a captivating and visually stunning experience.
Shows are Mon – Fri 3pm – 6:30 every half hour; 7pm – 12am every 15 minutes. Sat – Sun 12pm – 6:30pm every half hour; 7pm – 12am every 15 minutes.

2. Fremont Street Experience

They say you’ve never truly been in Las Vegas if you dodn’t visit the Freemont Street Experience. And why not? It’s just free, anyway.
Located in downtown Las Vegas, the Fremont Street Experience is one of my favorite things to do. It is a renowned entertainment and pedestrian mall that is covered by a massive canopy known as the Viva Vision Canopy, which stretches for approximately five blocks and is adorned with an LED light and sound system.
Throughout the evening, the canopy comes alive with dazzling light shows, music performances, and visual displays that create a captivating and immersive experience for visitors.
Shows start at top of the hour, nightly from 6:00 p.m. To 2:00 a.m., Each show is 6-8 minutes and features a mind-blowing, 3D graphical interpretation of top songs from legendary musical artists.

3. Mirage Volcano Show
Another spectacular but free outdoor attraction that I love to check out in Las Vegas is the Mirage Volcano Show which happens at The Mirage Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
This iconic display features a man-made volcano that erupts with fire, smoke, and water choreographed to music and special effects, lasting for about 5 minutes.
If you can’t make it to the show, visiting the volcano itself, which is situated in front of the resort and is surrounded by a lagoon filled with waterfalls and tropical landscaping, is already worth the trip.
The volcano erupts at the Mirage every hour from 8 pm to 12 am.

4. Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

If you are a nature lover, then the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens should be part of your itinerary during your Las Vegas trip.
A lush and enchanting nature park located within the Bellagio Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip; this indoor botanical garden features a stunning display of horticultural artistry, a rotating collection of seasonal displays, and a wide variety of exotic plants, flowers, trees, and themed decorations.
The botanical gardens are free of charge, open to the public, and provide a serene and captivating escape from the city’s bustling energy.

5. “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” Sign

If you are a first-time traveler to Las Vegas, the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign is something you shouldn’t miss. It’s a free, iconic, and very distinctive sign that gives you bragging rights to your family, friends, and even social media followers that you have visited the wonderful city of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Located at the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip, this famous sign has welcomed visitors to the city since it was first erected in 1959. It has become a popular city symbol and a must-visit attraction for tourists, so make sure that you don’t miss this popular destination.

Las Vegas for Less: Travel Tips for Budget-Conscious Travelers
Aside from visiting the top free destinations we listed above, here are a few more tips to keep in mind if you don’t want to spend a lot during your Las Vegas trip.
1. Travel in Off-Season
Consider visiting Las Vegas during the off-peak season, typically during weekdays or outside major holidays and events. Hotel and flight prices tend to be lower, and you’ll find fewer crowds.
2. Don’t Book a Hotel on the Strip
Look for hotels in downtown Las Vegas or off-Strip areas as they are cheaper than those luxury hotels on the Strip. Although, some hotels like Flamingo and Excalibur offer good rates and are on the strip.
3. Research a Rental Car
Before booking a rental car, compare prices first. For instance, search for “Budget car rental near me” on Google and go over the results to find the service provider that offers the best deal.
4. Happy Hour!
Look for happy hour specials and food deals at bars and restaurants. Many places offer discounted drinks and appetizers during certain times of the day. One of my favorites is Ocean One Bar & Grille (3667 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109) in the Miracle Mile Shops with 3 for 1 Cocktails and lunch specials that start at $5.99.
5. Pack Snacks & Bring a Water Bottle
Bring your own water bottle and snacks to avoid overpriced options on the Strip.
Your Las Vegas trip doesn’t have to be expensive. By planning your trip ahead of time and taking advantage of free attractions and complimentary offers, you can experience a luxurious journey without breaking the bank.
