Indian Wells is a city in the California desert. You may not have heard of it, if you don’t live in California, but you probably have heard of Palm Springs, the Coachella Music Festival and if you like tennis, you probably know about BNP Paribas Open. Indian Wells is located between Palm Desert and La Quinta. It’s only 16-miles from Palm Springs, it’s where the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament is played and it’s only 10 miles from the Coachella Music Festival. It’s also home to the famous Indian Wells Golf Resort.
I’ve been to Palm Springs multiple times, but I had never visited Indian Wells until this trip. I went with my mom and dad for a weekend. We stayed at the Renaissance Esmeralda Indian Wells Resort & Spa and our plan was to play golf and relax at the hotel pool.

Indian Wells Golf Resort
Indian Wells Golf Resort is a 36-hole golf resort. Indian Wells Golf Resort offers two courses; The Celebrity Course & Players Course. I was lucky enough to golf on the Celebrity Course at Indian Wells Golf Resort. Many would say this is one of the most lavish golf courses in the United States. I had an amazing time.
This course is better played with a golf cart, as it can be pretty hot in Indian Wells.
I was quite rusty, for I hadn’t played in at least a year or so. After I warmed up, I hit some pretty nice shots and had a tremendous time. It was the most fun I have had playing the sport in a long time.
The reason I had such a fun time was because of the quality and landscape of the course. The greens were well trimmed with gorgeous scenery around them ranging from small ponds to large trees that loom over the the hole which we were playing. It was just amazing and by far the most beautiful course I have ever played.
It was a long course, which means there is a lot distance between each hole. This makes it more challenging. There were also a lot of sandpits, which made it a medium to expert course.
There is a cart that comes around and sells food and drinks which is very cool (it’s cash only). However, if you don’t have any money on you, they also have stops with water and ice dispensers at most of the holes. Overall, I had a great time at The Celebrity Course and I would say if you ever get a chance, it’s a must do for golf lovers.
The Renaissance Esmeralda Indian Wells Resort & Spa
The Renaissance Esmeralda Indian Wells Resort & Spa sits right next to the Indian Wells Golf Resort. I spent three days at the resort and I think the Renaissance Esmeralda Indian Wells Resort & Spa is incredible.
The view from our room was amazing. We could see the pools, the mountains and one of the Indian Wells Golf Resort courses from the balcony. The room was very nice with a great bathroom and very comfortable beds.
I loved the pools. They even had a small man-made beach near the larger pool which is very cool. They also have a bar in the middle of this pool that serves drinks for all ages. There are two hot tubs and another smaller pool with a waterfall in it which makes it unique.
They even have fire pits all around the property and you can cook s’mores and hang out with other kids.
I loved the hotel and the golf course, it was a really fun vacation and I’d love to do it again. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a weekend getaway, or for any golf lovers because it’s a golf paradise. If you get the chance, it’s a must do for anyone who loves golf, travel, or just a relaxing vacation.
