How Cheap are Condor Airline Fares?
Below is a fare I found at the time of writing this article. $229 each direction from Pheonix, Arizona to Frankfurt, Germany (FRA). Finding round-trip airfare to Germany for about $500 is something we can all afford and can truly be defined as a Cheap Flight to Europe.
I first found out about Condor Airlines during a sale they ran for $279.99 each direction from hubs in the United States to Frankfurt. I suggest you join the Condor mailing list to learn about all sales and keep up with their best price alerts.
Fares start as low as $229.99, one-way. In the United States and Canada, Condor currently serves Anchorage, Baltimore, Fairbanks, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Portland, Seattle, Toronto and Vancouver with non-stop service to Frankfurt.
Most recently, new weekly flights were added from Las Vegas (five times a week), Portland (five times a week), Phoenix (three times a week), Calgary (four times a week) and Halifax (five times a week). The flights are all operated on Boeing 767-300 equipment.
What’s included in the flight?
Condor doesn’t “nickel and dime” travelers the way other “low-cost” carriers do. Checked baggage, beverages, meal and entertainment are included in all fare classes.
All Condor long-haul passengers receive free checked baggage as well as meals. Earbuds, a pillow, and blanket are provided for all passengers. In-flight entertainment is also included and available on seat-back screens with a choice of free and paid-for premium content, featuring more than 30 movies and 50 TV shows.
Premium Class
Premium economy features seats with added legroom, leg rests and adjustable headrests, a premium in-flight, in-seat entertainment system with extended programming, USB ports at every seat, premium meals, complimentary beverages and an in-flight, toiletry kit that includes an eye mask, toothbrush and toothpaste, socks, earbuds and a hand sanitizer (and a really cute storage bag).
What’s the Catch? Why Are They So Cheap?
Condor has found a gap in the market and is serving underserved locations. In some markets, they operate seasonally. By doing these two things they are able to keep their fares low and offer direct flights to Germany from hubs that didn’t have this option.
Why Condor?
They are dependable and a bargain! Did you know Condor has been around for more than 60 years?
Most budget airlines truly nickel and dime you, even on transatlantic flights. I’ve taken international flights where nothing was included in the base fare, including water on the flight. This means everything was an add-on after you purchased your ticket (including the seat selection, baggage, food, drinks, in-seat entertainment).
Some airlines don’t offer any in-seat entertainment. For a long-haul flight, I enjoy a few perks including watching a few movies. It certainly makes the flight much quicker and more pleasant!
Arriving & Departing in Frankfurt
More than 1,300 flights arrive and depart from “Frankfurt” each and every day. Considering how many flights move in and out of Frankfurt airport, it was a surprisingly easy passport control experience. When we arrived, it took less than 15 minutes, which is a lovely surprise after a long flight!
Similarly, when we flew back to the United States, I found the airport easy to navigate. Condor has two check-in sections. One for flights heading to the U.S. and another section for flights to other locations in Europe and Asia. Give yourself plenty of time, as the check-in line took about 45 minutes when I departed.
Condor’s Germany Hub: Enjoy a Few Days in Frankfurt

Frankfurt am Main is a major German city and at its core, it is a banking center. That said, there are quite a few fun things to do. So don’t rush off too quickly!
It is a city worth exploring, at least for a day or two. The hop-on-hop-off bus is a great way to get an overview of the city and if you are there just one day, a quick way to see the top sites.
One of my favorite experiences was walking along the Main River and across the many bridges. Eiserner Steg bridge connects the section called Römer with the district of Sachsenhausen— where you can find the famous Apfelwein. The original wrought-iron bridge below was built in 1868 & then replaced in 1911 by this slightly larger cantilever bridge.

Frankfurt is known for its apple wine restaurants. One of the most famous is Apfelwein Wagner. This is a must and where you can enjoy Wiener schnitzel and a glass of apple wine (Ebbelwoi – cider) mixed with a bit of soda water (sauer). If you want a traditional German meal, this is a must.
When I visited Frankfurt, I stayed at the Intercity Hotel Hauptbahnhof Sud. The hotel was recently renovated and located walking distance from the main train station. It was very conveniently located, not only to the train, but also many restaurants and only a few minutes walk to the Main River. The hotel offers an extensive buffet-style breakfast as well as a full restaurant and bar.
